Mental Health First Aid Courses

We are currently taking bookings for 2 Mental Health First Aid courses.

 Learn how to provide initial support to someone experiencing a mental health crisis at our Mental Health First Aid Course, over 4 sessions. Gain a Mental Health First Aid qualification and arm yourself with the skill to comply with legislation changes. This course is presented by experienced psychologist and licenced MHFA trainer, Clarie Vrieze.

  • Course1 session times:
    Session # 1 Friday 26th April (9am-12pm)
    Session # 2 Friday 3rd May (9am-12pm)
    Session # 3 Friday 10th May (9am-12pm)
    Session # 4 Friday 17th May (9am-12pm)

OR

  • Course 2 session times:
    Session # 1 Wednesday 1st May (2pm-5pm)
    Session # 2 Thursday 2nd May (2pm-5pm)
    Session # 3 Wednesday 8th May (2pm-5pm)
    Session # 4 Thursday 9th May (2pm-5pm)

Please note:- participants must attend all sessions to receive the qualification.

What does the course deliver?

The Standard Mental Health First Aid® Training is a comprehensive 12-hour course accredited by Mental Health First Aid® Australia. Designed with a focus on evidence-based practices, this course is internationally recognised for its rigorous evaluation and skill-based training approach.

Upon successfully completing the course and a brief assessment, participants will earn the title of Accredited Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider®). This accreditation is valid for 3 years, endorsing your ability to provide initial mental health support.

What You'll Achieve from This Course:

Participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to:

  • Recognise Mental Health Challenges: Identify the signs and symptoms of mental health problems in adults.
  • Initiate Support: Utilise an evidence-based action plan to start a conversation about mental health.
  • Overcome Barriers: Understand the common barriers to help-seeking and strategies to address them.
  • Crisis Management: Assess and provide initial support in a variety of crisis situations.
  • Comprehensive Understanding: Learn about the prevalence and impact of mental illnesses, including risk factors, treatments, and support mechanisms.
  • Self-Care: Implement self-care practices essential for Mental Health First Aiders®.

This course is ideal for anyone interested in enhancing their understanding of mental health and developing the skills to support others in a compassionate and effective manner.

With more than two decades of experience in the mental health field, Claire has dedicated her professional life to supporting individuals on their journey towards optimal mental health and wellbeing.

Her curiosity and desire to understand the complexities of the human mind have led her to work in a variety of settings and with broad range of presentations including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, pain, substance abuse, psychosis, trauma and relationship issues. These experiences have deepened her understanding and knowledge of the critical role human connection has in every aspect of mental health and wellbeing.

Claire offers a unique perspective when it comes to business, because she understands the complexity of mental health issues in the workplace and the affect it has on individuals, families, teams, and the business as a whole, especially workplace culture.

She is an advocate for creating workplaces that are a haven of health, safety, and wellbeing, which can only be achieved by balancing the needs of both employers and employees equally.
