BALLARAT SPORTS & EVENTS UPGRADES

The first of three phases of upgrades to be rolled out at the Ballarat Sports and Events Centre (Selkirk Stadium) have been advertised for tender.

The phase one tender includes electrical works, speaker upgrades, scoreboard improvements and installation of additional CCTV.

This will be followed by phase two and three tenders to be advertised in 2025 that incorporates court lighting upgrades, broadcast capability updates, roof works, improved accessibility, and external pedestrian access works.

BSEC PACKAGE 1 - ELECTRICAL AND AUDIO WORKS

BSEC houses eight multi-sport courts including a show court with 3000 retractable spectator seats. The venue also includes a privately operated gymnasium and holds regular community sports including netball, basketball, badminton and dodge ball. BSEC has hosted events in the past such as NBL, WNBL, Suncorp Netball and other major national events. BSEC consists of the following existing facilities and spaces: 1. Show Court Annex 2. Second Annex 3. Third Annex 4. Other Spaces - with a high-performance center including a private gym, learning spaces, function room and dining areas 5. Outdoor Area 6. External Area This project offers an opportunity to respond to need to extend and refurbish a community sport and active recreation building that caters to the needs and interests of current and future residents of Ballarat. The development will increase the liveability of the City of Ballarat and cater for the needs of the local neighbourhood. The proposed building services work for the facilities include: • Extension of existing audio-visual system – installation of eight additional wall speakers connected to existing network • Lighting associated with accessibility works • Electrical associated with upgrade of heating and cooling • Access control upgrade – expansion of existing system • Upgrade of existing CCTV operating system and additional cameras • Broadcast bump in – conduits • Design of lighting boom to the existing structure over the main show court to support lighting enhancements for televised events • Design the upgrade of lighting to 1500 Lux. Assume 1no. light per 10sqm. Lighting upgrade to meet Free TV Australian Operational PracticeOP-31 Lighting requirements for television broadcast sports. This project will integrate into the existing infrastructure of the Ballarat Stadium and become a vital building upgrade for current.

CONTINUOUS VOICES - BUILD PHASE

The City of Ballarat is seeking to build a memorial to acknowledge the truth, trauma and ongoing legacy suffered by victims of sexual abuse across the local region and the whole of Australia. To this end, the City of Ballarat has run a national, two-stage, design competition and have found the most compelling concept design. This is to procure suitably qualified builders who will be able to bring the design to life.
