About -

“Burnout is what happens when you try to avoid being human for too long.”
- Michael Gungor, Musician, Artist and Author of “The Crowd, the Critic, and the Muse”

If you feel like 2023 has tested your resilience and adaptability, and perhaps, even more so than previous years, you are certainly not alone. For many, adjusting to the COVID-19 pandemic, along with the daily pressures of relationships, family, parenting, caregiving, work, finances and fluctuating health, may have led to you feeling pretty depleted, on the edge of burnout or even in full-blow burnout already.

The concept of burnout, a state of physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion, has become increasingly prevalent in recent years. However, the unique circumstances of 2023 seem to have exacerbated this issue, leaving many people wondering how to cope.

As we navigate these challenges, it is essential to acknowledge the toll it has taken on your wellbeing. By recognising the signs of burnout and implementing coping strategies, you can begin to regain control and find a sense of balance in your life.

Seeking support is not a sign of weakness, but rather an act of strength and resilience in the face of adversity. Make 2024 the year that you approach yourself and others with compassion, knowing that you have the power to overcome burnout and emerge stronger on the other side.

Jointly funded by the Australian and Victorian governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

How to be a Casual Counsellor
Have you ever found yourself sitting in the “Counsellor’s Chair” and wondering how you got there?
If so, you are not alone. Many people find themselves offering a listening ear and providing emotional support and guidance to others. This might be because of the nature of your job... or simply because you are available at the time of need.In this exciting and innovative workshop, we will discuss some of the key factors that lead to someone becoming a “Casual Counsellor.” We will explore topics such a confidentiality, active listening and boundary setting. We will also provide tips, strategies and resources on how to look after yourself and where to go for further support if needed.

Work Life Balance
Work-life balance is an important aspect of a healthy work environment. Maintaining work-life balance helps reduce stress and helps prevent burnout in the workplace. Chronic stress is one of the most common health issues in the workplace. It can lead to physical consequences such as hypertension, digestive troubles, chronic aches and pains and heart problems. Chronic stress can also negatively impact mental health because it’s linked to a higher risk of depression, anxiety and insomnia. By creating a work environment that prioritises work-life balance, employers can save money and maintain a healthier, more productive workforce. But what exactly does work-life balance look like? Come along and find out.

Managing Conflict in the Workplace
Developing effective conflict resolution skills is an essential component of building a sustainable business model. Unresolved conflict often results in loss of productivity, the stifling of creativity, and the creation of barriers to cooperation and collaboration. Perhaps most importantly for leaders, good conflict resolution ability equals good employee retention. Leaders who don’t deal with conflict will eventually watch their good talent walk out the door in search of a healthier and safer work environment.  If you would like to improve your skillset around having difficult conversations and managing conflict in the workplace (with staff or customers) you may find this workshop helpful.

Building Resilience and Self-Care
Many of us have been hit hard by pandemic fatigue.  The constant and chronic ongoing stress around lockdowns and uncertainty has led to feelings of overwhelm, burnout, and fatigue.  This has chipped away at our resilience, tested our coping skills and had a negative impact on our physical and mental wellbeing. This workshop will provide tips and strategies for managing post pandemic stress and fatigue, will outline why it’s okay to not be okay and how to start the process of rebuilding resilience and attending to your own self-care.
