SHINE A LIGHT ON THE LAW: WORKPLACE DEATHS NOW MANSLAUGHTER

From 1 July 2020 employers can now face criminal penalties for workers who die on the road, suicides attributable to work, industrial disease such as silicosis and negligent deaths in the workplace. Employers will face fines of up to $16.5 million and individuals will face up to 25 years jail if they negligently cause a workplace death.  More information about Worksafe’s “Tougher laws.
