BisNet Breakfast - March 2019
Guest Speaker: Sara Quon
Non Members: $35.00
Sara Quon starts late January at Sovereign Hill as the fifth CEO in the organisation’s 48 year history. Sara is looking forward to working with the board, management and stakeholders to articulate a vision for the next 50 years of the award-winning outdoor museum and to drive a powerful and highly consultative business plan for the immediate phase ahead. An amazing legacy has been built by successive boards, management teams and the integral volunteer base at Sovereign Hill upon which to build.
With a career spanning twenty years split across tourism/major events and the food sector, Sara Quon serves on the board of Visit Victoria, Victoria’s state tourism marketing and events agency and historically sat on the boards of HotHouse Theatre and Outdoors Victoria. She has been a member of ministerial advisory boards regarding the alpine resorts and food and wine tourism.
Sara most recently has been CEO of Beechworth Honey, a leading Australian specialty honey company based in North East Victoria and was the inaugural CEO of Tourism North East, the regional tourism board for the Victorian High Country. She is passionate about the increased role regional Victoria can play in the State’s economic future.
Ms Quon previously spent four years at Melbourne Food and Wine Festival as Marketing Director and then acting CEO. Prior to her decade in tourism, Sara worked for nearly ten years in the dairy industry working across New Zealand, Australia and Asia. Her collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement, strategy and innovation have defined many of her roles.
She and her husband, together with their two daughters, are passionate about travel and being active in the outdoors. Sara and family are looking forward to calling Ballarat home and discovering all it has to offer.
