CoB Active Women and Girls Strategy's

The Active Women and Girls Strategy's aim is to provide a long term strategic plan that will put forth recommendations regarding how participation in physical activity and sport could be increased for women and girls throughout the City of Ballarat. The Strategy will seek to identify issues of equity on participation experienced by women due to the constraints of facilities, service or clubs as well as review the current formal and informal leadership roles that are undertaken by women and girls in sport and recreation organisations. Furthermore the Strategy will provide direction and an action plan for Council to increase participation in sport and recreation within the City of Ballarat including strategies to address identified issues (ie. Facility requirements, club development) and the identification of any pilot projects to improve participation rates. The Strategy will also address awareness regarding equity of participation and a commitment by Clubs to encourage and support equity of participation, encourage club culture to include women and girls in coaching, officiating and leadership roles. The Strategy is in early planning and data gathering stages with the expected completion date of early to mid-2016.
