Simplex Insurance Solutions was established in Ballarat in 2005, with the assistance of Commerce Ballarat we have been able to grow our business to a point where we have over 1200 clients both local and interstate.
Commerce Ballarat has assisted us with networking events such as 505 where we can meet other professional business people who can assist us in our growth with their services and in turn may also wish to utilise the services that Simplex has to offer too. The Commerce Ballarat Race day is a great networking event where we normally have a table and bring some our clients along to a fun day and it provides our clients with an opportunity to network too. Commerce Ballarat also has relevant business courses, such as the Savvy Social Media course last year which for an old dinosaur like me, it helped me feel more comfortable in the Social Media market place. Through our membership and participation in the Commerce Ballarat community, we have benefited from participating in a number of initiatives, including:
- Ballarat Business Awards (as an entrant, category award winner and sponsor)
- Events (through attendance at various events, speaker Opportunity and meeting other members of the Ballarat Business Community)
- Newsletter (Keep up to date on local issues, understanding of what's happening in the community, notify other members of relevant news at Newbiz Solutions)

- Support (I have at times sent an email to Jodie requesting feedback on a specific topic)
Commerce Ballarat have also provided advocacy through preparing a letter of support for a Government Grant Application. This allowed us to facilitate a program that resulted in benefits to other members of Commerce Ballarat and the Ballarat Business Community.
Like any community, you get back out what you put in. While we are far from the most active members, we understand that the more we contribute, the bigger the opportunities. How different people perceive opportunities, benefits and value is subjective. What we view as an opportunity, a benefit or valuable will differ from someone else.
